Dr. Enrique Becerra Awarded Fulbright Senior Scholar Grant in Spain

Dr. Enrique Becerra, Professor of Marketing and Honorary Professor of International Studies, will be a Fulbright Senior Scholar from September to December 2019 at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). UAM has over 29,000 students and is ranked as the 4th-best university in Spain according to US News and World Report’s ranking of global universities. Dr. Becerra will have the opportunity to both teach and conduct research at UAM, thereby establishing a relationship with a leading Spanish university. The Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between US scholars and the people of other nations. To support this mission, Dr. Becerra will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to his primary research and teaching activities. 

More Information on Dr. Enrique P. Becerra 
Dr. Becerra is a Professor in the Department of Marketing of the McCoy College Business Administration at Texas State University. He joined Texas State University in September 2005, after completing his PhD at Florida Atlantic University.

Prior to obtaining his PhD, Dr. Becerra worked in financial, transportation, and investment banking global companies; he has over 14 years of international business experience. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration with emphasis in Finance from the University of Florida.  

Dr. Becerra teaches international marketing and ethnic and niche marketing courses.The courses are informed by his experience in international business, as well as his research on the effect of culture and ethnicity on marketing.  His research also covers branding, its effect on retail patronage and store’s marketing strategy, and the effect of self-concept on consumer behavior.

 Dr. Becerra’s research has been published in prestigious marketing journals such as the Journal of Academy of Marketing Science, the Journal of Advertising Research, the Journal of Business Research, and the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services.  He also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Advertising Research, the Journal of Marketing Analytics, and the ESIC Marketing Journal.
